District items of interest:

The next regularly scheduled school board meeting is October 26, 2020    6:00 pm, MS Cafeteria.

Average Enrollment = 759

Ensure a school culture where every student is respected, safe, academically challenged and engaged:

Parent Conferences are just around the corner.  November 5th 12:00-7:45 and November 6th 10:00-5:45.

Ensure rigorous and relevant learning opportunities:

Congratulations, Becky Buckingham!  Your recent application for a North Central Education Foundation Teacher Classroom Grant was selected for you to receive $300 for your “Solidifying Number Sense in Second Grade” project.  This was made possible because of a donation we received from North Cascades Bank.

Ensure strong partnerships with students, families, and community:

We are starting the second week of Hybrid instruction.  Overall it has been very successful week and it was great to have kids in the buildings once again.

The Community Foundation of North Central Washington has awarded our district a grant in the amount of $4271 to help students meet basic needs of food, clothing, health needs, personal hygiene, and sanitation.  The grant dollars will be combined with InvestEd funds to meet these basic needs.

Ensure district resources support the strategic plan

Strategic Planning is underway.  Our committee to develop a district strategic plan has met twice and will continue over the next 5 weeks to develop and deliver a comprehensive 3 year plan for the district.  Dr. Gene Sharratt is the facilitator to guide us through the process.

The HS office remodel has hit another setback.  The contractor that was due to start in the next few weeks will have to undergo back surgery and cannot be cleared until after Christmas Break.  The architect is looking for someone else to complete the project.

The school property next to the track had all the trees and brush that did not burn removed.  Some areas will be leveled off and the irrigation system will be repaired.  The goal is to get the grass growing next spring and be able to keep it mowed off to establish a green belt.  Discussions are underway on how we can begin to utilize the property.
