District items of interest:

The next regularly scheduled school board meeting is November 30, 2020    6:00 pm, MS Cafeteria.

Average Enrollment = 759

Ensure a school culture where every student is respected, safe, academically challenged and engaged:

11th and 12th graders in group B Cohort will take the ASVAB Friday November 20th from 8:00-11:30 am.  Group A will take the ASVAB on Monday, November 23rd from 8:00-11:30 am.

Picture retakes for students and staff is this Friday, November 20th starting at 7:45 am in the Elementary Cafeteria.  Please when having your picture taken, remove your mask for the picture.

Hanna Coffman and Diane Hull are in the process of applying for a Gear Up Grant.

The district has been notified that we are high on the list to receive the modernization grant that will put a new roof on the high school and/or replace the cooling tower for the high school.  Stay tuned, we will know some time in January.

Ensure rigorous and relevant learning opportunities:

We are now in our 6th week of Hybrid A/B model and we are in the 2nd week of 9th grade attending all sessions A and B.  We have no reported cases of COVID in the school district at this time.  Much of this is because of our diligence in masking, screening at the door, and good hygiene.  If we continue to have this success we will look to bring back additional grade levels at each building for both the A and B days just like our current 9th grade is doing.

Ensure strong partnerships with students, families, and community

Starting mid-January the website will get a face lift.  The look and design will change to be a little more user friendly.  Along with the new look their will be a Bridgeport School District App for mobile users.  Users will not only be able to access the website but they will get notifications on what is called Thrillshare.  Thrillshare will allow teachers and staff to upload activities and school stories in real time.  This app will replace messenger so we can post (in real time) any notifications instantly.

On Monday November 9th Ms. Witt’s Kindergarten class made cards for the 63 Veterans working at Chief Joseph Dam.  The cards were to remember them and their service on Veteran’s day.  Each card was personalized with the veteran’s name and military branch.  You can find pictures of the vet’s and the cards they received scrolling on the webpage.

On the webpage you can view the Veteran’s Day Video created by the Bridgeport High School Leadership Class to celebrate Veteran’s Day.

Ensure district resources support the strategic plan

Strategic Planning is near finished.  Our committee to develop a district strategic plan has five times over the last few months to develop and deliver a comprehensive 3 year plan for the district.  Our student strategic planning representatives will present the plan at the next school board meeting.  Once approved by the board the plan will be shared in delivered during staff meetings.

The School Meal Programs Procurement Review (PR) conducted by OSPI. The review conducted November 2-6, 2020, covered Bridgeport School District’s procurement process for the 2019-20 school year.

Outcome: Bridgeport School District met all regulatory criteria in this area.
