District items of interest:

The next regularly scheduled school board meeting is January 25, 2021 6:00 pm, MS Cafeteria.

January Enrollment = 732           Average Enrollment = 750       Our budget this year was set for 750

Starting Jan. 25th (2nd semester) Bridgeport School District will return all students to in-person learning 4 days a week.  Wednesday’s will continue to be reserved for remote learning, teacher/student appointments, and deep cleaning.  The School Board made the decision to return in last night’s School Board meeting.  Please remember to be diligent in mask wearing, proper hygiene, social distancing, and screening.

Middle School students completed iReady winter diagnostic and on January 27th the MS Staff Professional Development will be to review winter diagnostic growth data to inform instruction.  

Semester Finals are the week of January 19-22.

35 Juniors & Seniors have signed up to take the In-School SAT in March.  The SAT is one Graduation Pathway for students to meet the ELA and Math requirements to graduate.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day will be observed during the week of January 19-22 in Advisory classes.

The district is in the process of contracting sign language services for one of our students. The company providing the services is TERP Sign Language Services. All of their interpreters are Certified Education Interpreters EIPA State, and Certified by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf RID National. The company will place sign language interpreters in our district 4 days per week, following the preschool schedule. Next week you will begin seeing a couple new faces…Elizabeth MacDougall (director and CEO of TERP Services) and Cristine Dahl, who will be providing interpreting services for the remainder of the school year. Beginning in February another interpreter will also be onsite, trading weeks with Cristine. We are very excited to welcome TERP Services staff to our district.

 

Ripen strong community partnerships

The district is working through Family Health Centers to bring an opportunity for COVID vaccinations to the school for staff to be vaccinated if they so choose.  A short interest survey is underway and it is due by Friday at 3 pm.  Once the vaccine is available for school staff, we will solidify our plans to make this available at school for staff that have indicated on the survey that they want it.

Bridgeport High School held a Super Saturday, January 10th 9:00-12 noon.  Students were encouraged to come to the high school to get help with schoolwork, access to computers, and a quiet place to work.  25 students were in attendance.
